Aiming for a fully bilingual website

Further steps were taken in the relaunch process at the start of 2025. In January, the first two levels of the new main menu item "Transfer" went online in German and English, under which the websites of the departments that build bridges between science and society can be found. As part of this, the Center for Knowledge and Technology Transfer and the Viadrina Founders Center are currently updating their websites. At the end of last year, the main menu items University and Research went online in English. The aim is to make the entire Viadrina website accessible in German and English.

The other language trees created in the CMS - Polish, French and Ukrainian - can be used if the information is aimed at target groups from the respective language areas.

Translation is possible via a DeepL interface implemented in the CMS. The individual websites are updated by the responsible decentralised CMS editors.

Technically, the content can be updated semi-automatically via the DeepL interface or manually. You can find instructions for this in the CMS training area in Viadrina-intern.

If you need support in using the DeepL interface or are not sure which websites you are editorially responsible for, please contact webrelaunch@europa-uni.de.

Outlook

The relaunch team is currently working with the International Office to restructure and develop the main menu item "Internationality". By the middle of the year, the last of the university's major institutions should finally finalise their new websites. These include the Viadrina Language Centre, the University Library and the IKMZ.
